A Thebes stool in English yew wood by John Makepeace.
One of an edition of six.
The seat is made of layers at right angles in a curved handmade "plywood." The layers have been sculpted to enhance the comfort and to express the structure. The laminated legs are joined with hi-tech connections using multiple steel threads in epoxy resin, a technology developed at NASA, originally to join huge wooden wind blades to the steel pivot for the generation of electricity on Hawaii.
