We were very excited to show some of our most recent pieces at the prestigious Open Art Fair at The Duke of York Square, Chelsea, London recently.
Visitors were able to view at first hand our wonderful selection of new stock, including items by Edward Barnsley, William Morris, Piero Fornasetti, Michele de Lucchi and Aldo Tura.
We also exhibited a lovely collection of Watercolours by naturalist artist Charles Frederick Tunnicliffe OBE, RA (1 December 1901 – 7 February 1979).
Highly desirable antique items such as a Walnut "Hayrake" Dining Table and Chairs by Gordon Russell, England, circa 1920 in excellent condition, and made by Foreman E.Turner and Cabinet Maker N.Allaway, and a Mahogany Chest of Drawers with holly stringing by Edward Barnsley (1900-1987) were also on display.
A rare Aldo Tura Drinks Cabinet from the Trompe loeil series, also took pride of place. The wooden frame applied with parchment and lacquer with trompe loeil effect depicting chargers showing various classical scenes. The top with a clever cupboard opening to reveal a wonderful fitted mirrored glass interior. Above two drawers with a lower cupboard. Italy, circa 1960.
For Piero Fornasetti fans, we displayed two very rare and extremely beautiful early Piero Fornasetti Umbrella Stands, 1950 namely "Levriero Afgano" and "Strisce Verticali" – both metal, lithographically printed and hand coloured, Italy.
Finally, we had a lot of interest from individual and very sought-after designer accessory items such as an Oceanic Table light by the celebrated Italian designer Michele de Lucchi for Memphis. Italy, circa 1981.
